New for 2012

As stated in the previous post the St Charles classes started up again this week. Monday 9th January 1pm I am enrolling a new Qigong course at Granby ALC. This is a ten hour course that costs just £10. If anyone wants further details please email me. The course start date is 16th January. The fan class at Granby ALC resumes on Monday 16th January at 10am. January 28th is the 4th fan session at the Unitarian Church, Ullet Road. On January 29th the Deyin Institute is holding a Chinese New Year celebration. See their website for details. Log on to http://www.deyin-taiji.com/ and on the right hand side under “forthcoming events” there is a link to the Chinese New Year celebrations. February 15th 10.30 - 12 we are holding our second fundraising event in aid of Alder Hey Imagine Appeal - more details to follow.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a good Christmas break. This week sees the St Charles classes back to normal. But before I post what lies ahead I thought I would have a look back at 2011 and share some of the highlights. 2011 round up Here is a list of some of the activities that we got up to over the last year: In January we held our first fundraising event. This raised over £400 for Marie Curie. In February I qualified as a Deyin Taijiquan Instructor. In March The students on first Fan course completed the form at Granby ALC. In April I won two bronze medals at the British Tai Chi Championships in Oxford. In May I launched my website – www.angelataichi.co.uk Having never done anything like that before I am aware that there is still quite a bit of work to do on it. As my daughter’s boyfriend commented “it has potential” In June a group of us had a very enjoyable day out to Llandudno. In July saw the start of the first all day Saturday session for the Taiji Kungfu Fan. There have been two further sessions with more planned for the new year. In September Our third consecutive year at the Bold Street Festival – best yet I would say – well done! In November I completed another instructor module with the Deyin Institute – this time in 16 step sword. If anyone is interested in learning this form please let me know and I will see what we can do for 2012 And finally December - We had our Christmas do at the Sir Thomas Hotel. Overall a great night out. (I can highly recommend their nut roast!!)

Taiji Kungfu Fan - session 3

On Saturday the third all day session took place. A challenging but fruitful day was had by all and all of part three was covered. I have some photos and will sort them out over the next couple of days. I am currently waiting to hear when the hall will be free for the next session. I am hoping for a date towards the end of January. As soon as I have a date confirmed I will post it on here and the web site. I have been asked by a number of people whether it is OK to come to the sessions if they have not attended previous ones. I am happy for anyone to do this as each part is its own contained mini form. If anyone has any queries about this then they can email me directly. The next session will be a consolidation exercise so even if anyone has missed any of the first three parts then this is a chance to catch up a little. The morning will consist of parts 1 and 2. The afternoon will focus on parts 3 and 4. Part 4 is actually the same as part 2. We will also link all 4 parts together, including a go with the music (that's when the fun really starts!). Thanks for checking in and look out for some photos later in the week.

Bold Street Festival

What a wonderful day and the crowds certainly came out in force. We arrived to find no PA system set up for us but we actually managed to turn this around to our advantage due to a couple of Chinese people giving out leaflets about an art exhibition. They were playing some Chinese music so we asked if we could perform by them. They were very obliging and even turned up the music. This meant we were actually on the road itself facing towards Church Street - so a good entrance to the festival. Plenty of people stopped to watch and quite a number were taking photographs. If anyone out there has any pictures please could you send me some.

Bold Street Festival

Today we are demonstrating for the third year running at the Bold Street Festival in Liverpool. We will be doing a mixture of Qigong and Tai Chi including the full fan routine to music. We will be at the bottom of Bold Street outside the Co-op Bank from 12pm. Our demonstrations will be alternated with activities that the Black-E have planned. If you are in town today come alond and say hello. I will post some photos after the event.

Taiji Kungfu Fan Session 2

The second session took place yesterday and everyone got through the second part. We even did the first and second parts to music although this may have been a challenge too far but was good fun nonetheless. Everyone was keen to come back for the third part and this will take place on Saturday 5th November. Well done to all those who took part and keep on practising!

Taiji Kungfu Fan - first session

Yesterday the first all day session took place. Twelve people turned up and there was a great buzz in the room from the word go. The aim of the day was to go through the first part of the form and this was successfully achieved. A great day was had by all and everyone was still smiling at the end as can be seen in the group photo. Well done to everyone. The second session was booked straight away for the 24th September.
